Ingredients

  • 1 large onion do the blooming cut
  • 150 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 100 ml milk
  • 100 g breadcrumbs preferably panko
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 50 g parmesan cheese grated, for extra flavor

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Method

  1. Start by preparing the onion. Cut off the top and peel it, then carefully slice the onion into petals, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  3. Dip the onion in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C. Place the blooming onion in the fryer basket and spray with a little oil.
  5. Cook for about 20 minutes until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  6. Remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

Tip: You can add a sprinkle of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick!
